Cheongsong White Porcelain (Cheongsong Paekja) is on e of four major Chosun Dynasty porcelains that has 500 years history from the 16th century to the mid-20th century. With Yang’gu White Porcelain, it also represents Chosun White Porcelain.

Unlike some white porcelains that other area produced by using soil Cheongsong White Porcelain shows milky and snowy white color and is thin and light because uses stone powder from(which means pottery stone in Korean).

Cheongsong White Porcelain, which is on e of Cheongsong’s cultural heritages, is handmade following the traditional rule, which is hardly found in any other areas in Korea.

Succeeding traditional methods, this porcelain is able to present the sprit of artists and the aesthetics of slowness.

In order to promote Cheongsong white porcelain internationally and to network with artists, Cheongsong Culture and Tourism Foundation, calls artists for, “2017 Cheongsong White Porcelain Residency Program”. Through the program, we expect to have a meaningful networking with international artists, who work based on stone powder. Furthermore, we hope to find a new vision of porcelain industries. 1. Summary

2. Eligibility

- An artist working with pottery stone or an artist who can work with pottery stone

- If you cannot travel internationally, you cannot apply for this program

- Residence Period : Three months (Sep. 1, 2017 ~ Nov 26, 2017 )

3. Rule

- You can work freely within the agreement with the program coordinator based on the submitted proposal. You can live in the studio and interact with local Cheongsong White Porcelain masters and local artists. You should make either traditional porcelains or experimental and contemporary porcelains by using stone powder .

- You must participate in art exchange programs as a member of the local community.

- The exhibition will be held and some piece of works will be donated to the organization before the end of the program. Details will be decided after meetings with the program coordinator.

4. Residents will receive

- Travel expenses (Round-trip ticket and domestic transportation cost)

- Living and production cost. Approximately 1,500,000 KRW per month * 4,500,000 KRW for 3 months

- A private bedroom and a private studio

- You can use common areas of residency building

- The organization will for work activity by organizer if you comply with the mutually agreed work activity regulations

- Equipments : Gas kiln, De airing Pugmill, Electric Spinning Wheel, Work shelf, etc.

5. Required Documents (All documents must be written in English.)

- Résumé or ( CV : 1 copy )

- Portfolio : 1 copy (work images and exhibition installation shots must be included. Please submit 5 to 15 images or Video highlights within 3 minutes )

- Proposal : 1 copy

- Application form (including a cover letter or a letter of interest) 1 copy

- The submitted documents will not be returned and if the contents of the submitted documents are different from the facts, the selection may be invalid.
